The Custom Mural Process
It all starts with an idea. If your concept is not yet fully realized, our graphics team can help you create your custom wallcovering. You don’t have to worry about minimum amounts or set-up fees. We are at your disposal to collaborate with you on your quest to find the perfect wallpaper design solution for the project you are working on.
Choose Your Substrate: The next step is selecting your substrate. Bijou offers a wide variety of commercial-grade substrates in smooth, textured and metallic finishes. We use a Type 2 vinyl that is 54” wide, is fungus and mildew resistant, and meets all commercial codes. Each substrate elevates the experience and overall aesthetic of the design in its own unique way. From texture to saturation levels, the customization opportunities are endless, allowing us to capture every detail and color just as you pictured it.
Strike off: Once we have arrived at the design you had in mind, we produce a strike off within a week’s time. Measuring 25” x 25” and printed on the substrate of your choice, it’s an accurate representation of the final production quality.
Print: Once your strike-off is approved, we print your custom wallcovering in less than a month. That’s all there is to it.
Custom Mural Case History #1
The custom mural we created for Puttery’s Dallas location was one of our favorite projects. With a tag line of “putting with a modern spin,” this chain offers an immersive golf experience, with themed courses, curated culinary options and inventive craft cocktails for a memorable night out. Each unique course is designed to be an intricately detailed experience that transports guests to a wholly unexpected location.
Working with Chicago’s Barker/Nestor, an architecture and design firm specializing in hospitality and restaurant chains nationwide, Bijou created a multi-paneled wall mural depicting an uber-realistic Alpine panorama. Serving as the “windows” of a fantasy ski lodge complete with wall-length fireplace, the five custom-sized panels consist of a large picture window and two smaller corner windows with transoms. They successfully trick the eye into believing it’s looking out onto snow-covered ski slopes.
Custom Mural Case History #2
Bijou loved collaborating with the interior design firm Paris K Design based in New York City to create a modern full-wall mural. The client for this custom wallpaper was a medical office specializing in functional medicine, an individualized, science-based approach to disease that promotes optimal wellness. Our team worked with the design firm to create a minimalist design depicting an oversized bouquet of lotus flowers, chosen because they symbolize purity, strength and rebirth, a perfect design solution for a spa-like examining room to help sooth nervous patients.
